Greece

As soon as Western Thrace and Eastern Macedonia were handed over to the Bulgars by the Germans, all merchants and craftsmen were forced to relinquish their shops or workshops to newly arrived Bulgars. At Cavalla, a prosperous tobacco market town, 700 concerns of all kinds were forcibly expropriated and Bulgars brought over from Sofia established themselves in the seized properties. Greeks who left during the war have not been allowed to return and their property, including articles of clothing, has been confiscated.
