Baron de Sainte-Croix on Macedon, 1775

Guillaume-Emmanuel-Joseph Guilhem de Clermont-Lodève, Baron de Sainte-Croix (1746-1809) is a historian and French litterateur. He is author of the book "Examen Critique des anciens Historiens d'Alexandre le Grand" (English: "A Critical inquiry into the life of Alexander the Great by ancient historians"). According to Baron de Sainte-Croix, Alexander the Great was Monarch of the Macedonians, but he was hero of all Greeks (even of those who fiercely opposed on his despotism). To be more coherent for those who doesn't know French, I used the English version of the book, who was translated by Sir Richard Clayton in 1794. He stated for Alexander's campaign, Macedonian soldiers and their ethnicity, following:
