- According to Bevan, Macedonia was part of the Hellenic world, and inhabitans were of Hellenic and barbarian origin. According to Bevan, Lower Macedonia was most Hellenic than Upper Macedonia. Because of that we can see that according to Bevan, Paeonians and other tribes from Upper Macedonia were of barbaric origin. At present-days historical science doesn't confirm this theory.
