Arno Breker (1900-1991) was a German sculptor supported by many Nazi leaders, especially Adolf Hitler, but he was far from being a Nazi himself, first because he was too much influenced by foreign cultures, notably French and Greek, secondly because the fate of the Jews in Germany worried him a lot. In 1937 he was married with Greek model Demetra Messala, who used to pose for Picasso and Maillol.
He did a lot scupltures from ancient Greek heroes, dedicated to his Greek wife. Arno's last major work was a monumental sculpture of Alexander the Great with Eagle of Zeus. This sculpture is located in Ludwig Museum in Köln, Germany. His last wish was this statue to be a located in Greece.
